Actor Orpheus Pledger arrested after three-day manhunt for allegedly assaulting a woman
Former Home and Away actor Orpheus Pledger, 30, has been apprehended after a three-day search by Victoria Police. He was wanted on a warrant and was confirmed to be in custody on April 25.
The arrest follows the emergence of footage allegedly showing him assaulting a woman by dragging her to the ground and stomping on her head. The incident occurred just before he was due to appear in court on assault charges, prompting a manhunt.
Pledger is accused of grabbing the woman from behind, causing her to fall, and then stomping on her head, leaving imprints from his Vans sneakers. Earlier that day, he was taken from jail to a hospital for a mental health assessment but left before being seen by doctors, violating his bail conditions. Despite efforts to locate him, he remained at large until his arrest on Thursday.
The incident angered Melbourne Magistrate Justin Foster, who had granted Pledger's hospital visit request. Pledger, known for his role as Mason Morgan on Home and Away from 2016 to 2019, had been in custody since his arrest on March 27.
He was arrested the day after allegedly assaulting the same woman, who remains unidentified, for the ninth time since 2021. Pledger was expected to undergo further examination at the hospital and return to court for a reassessment of his bail conditions.
